Wordled My Last Post

Have you played with Wordle yet? You can check out the online application by clicking here. It creates an image of the words you plug into it, the text of a story, a poem, a blog post or article, even just a paragraph, whatever you copy and past in. The most frequently used words are the largest, so it’s an interesting visual of how you write, and is an insight into your most commonly used words.

Apparently this kind of thing has been around on the internet for awhile, appearing first back in 2007. There are some plugins for WordPress that are no longer supported, so I suggest you use the wordle.net tool if you want to experiment. It’s fun. I first came into contact with it one the Sunday Whirl, a blog that started last year as a sort of poetry prompt tool. It’s always fun to see what poets come up with. Last night I posted a wordle image from Zemanta of President Obama’s acceptance speech. It made me smile.

Check it out, play around and see what you come up with. To save the wordle you can take a screen shot, or follow these instructions. But you can also save it to a public gallery and then copy the embedding tag to post it on your blog. You can also plug in your blog’s URL in the box below the one for text,, and it will give you a wordle for everything currently on your front page, for me that includes the last six or seven posts. Give it a try and see what you come up with.
