NaPoWriMo, Day 14: “That Day”

I keep saying I am going to share a few links to friends who are either writing a poem a day for National Poetry Month, or at least writing a few here and there, which is better than what I am doing. I also said I wanted to share links to friends who are also recording poems. Instead of putting it off until I have time to do one big linky-here-and-there post like I had envisioned, how about I just bring them to you in ones and twos or threes, as I have time in my day?

Here is my friend John, a new poet on the scene, being brave enough not only to write poems on his blog for NaPoWriMo, but to also write about some very difficult things. Poetry as a method for healing, it’s a good tool for that. This one took me back. Maybe I didn’t want to go, but it was helpful to remember, to remember how much kids still need our help, even in this time of progress. There are still kids who need this Math teacher, who need us.
