Meet Poet Judith Sornberger: First Guest on the In Three Poems Podcast

Update

If you’ve followed me here lately, you know that I’ve had a big project coming up. Unfortunately, I had an injury in the latter half of September that quickly turned to an infection and has been a bugger of a thing to recover from since. But if you’ve followed me a long time, you know that I’m a stubborn old bugger, and now that I can type, even with a third of my left hand being numb, I’m back at it! It has been a rough couple of months, so I’m thrilled to be able to finally continue what we started.

Episodes will go out on Thursdays for 2026, but during the holidays, we’re launching a couple of days early so you have plenty of time to sneak away from your annoying Uncle Ernie and pop your ear pods in. So, check out episode one on Tuesday, December 23 and episode two on December 30. You’ll find the podcast on Apple, Spotify, and later, on YouTube. You can also follow along on InThreePoems.com or subscribe here to get the updates.

Each episode will feature a chat with a different poet, some are friends, and some are friends I haven’t met yet. My long time followers here on WordPress know that I have a history of reading poems on YouTube and SoundCloud. In some ways, this project is an extension of those recordings as I get the opportunity to read a poem by our guest and hear them read one as well. Then we conclude with our featured poet reading a poem of their choice by someone else. In between we chat about poetry, craft and get to know our poets, as the name says, In Three Poems.

First Poet

Poet Judith Soenberger, smiling, dressed in pink, some might call i salmon, with a colorful scarf.

Poet, memoirist, and essayist Judith Sornberger will be our first guest and what a delight she is. I’ll start off by reading a poem by Judith that was published in the recent Keystone Anthology. Then she’ll read a poem of her own called “Weaving,” based on Diego Rivera’s painting by the same name and found in her new book of ekphrastic poems, Sorority of Stillness: A Gallery of Women in Art.

In between, we’ll chat about how poems talk to each other and how poets inspire and influence each other. All that in about 20 minutes or so. I hope you’ll tune in wherever you listen to podcasts! Click here for a quick twenty second teaser of the discussion.

    1. Thanks, Andrew! I’m trying not to be anxious about the fact that they tell me I might never get the full feeling in my middle finger again, but at least the pain has eased and I’m doing exercises to get more range of motion. And I can type much better again. Whew

Personally, I prefer to listen while driving or cooking, or lying on the sofa with my eyes shut! 🙂
