Christmas Songs, Annie Lennox

Well, it’s been more than a month. The new house is mostly set up; the new job is going well. I miss my boys, and can hardly wait to see them for Christmas. Hopefully they won’t give me any spoilers for the new Star Wars movie, which they have seen already.  “Spoilers,” that word reminds me that Doctor Who has come to the end of another season–I’m loving Peter Capaldi as The Doctor, by the way–and River Song will be returning for the Christmas special!

So, somewhere in there is a line that helps bridge the gap into the first of our featured songs for the winter holiday season. No, I am not a believer, but I do enjoy the peace-on-earth-good-will-toward-men vibe of Christmas, despite the over-commercialization and the now predictable, tired harping about a so-called “war on Christmas.”

A poet friend of mine posted this song on Facebook this week, and I was stunned, because somehow this amazing Annie Lennox video has escaped my notice for five full years! Personally, I think it’s magnificent. And it’s a great way to start my traditional posts of songs for the holidays. Happy Festivus!
