Saturday Song, Sibling Style

Window at Priestly Chapel where I’ll be reading poetry in the morning.

I’m trying to concentrate on putting my set list together for tomorrow’s poetry reading, hoping to bring those wonderful, beautiful people from my old home town some words that they haven’t already heard me read before. Of course, I keep finding myself distracted, and the current political climate doesn’t help. So, let’s turn to some music for the spirit.

Now and then on a Saturday I break from my usual discussions about poetry and just bring you a song or three that, for whatever reason, may be in my head at the time. I tend to reserve the heavier commentary and pairings of songs and poems for that equally random Music Monday feature. Today I bring you four songs, and a link below to a rich collection of many more.

I want to introduce you to a brother and sister team you might have been missing out on. A few months ago a friend on Facebook shared the first video below from 2013. It’s such a pure and lovely approach to the song “Hero” that I keep finding myself singing their version in the car, in the grocery store, at work. And I was so delighted to discover that they have been recording whenever they can for these three years since. The last two are from February and March. It’s also fantastic to see that Eva is more and more bringing her gorgeous voice  to the forefront in these duets– listen to “True Love” below!

I’ll just leave you these few songs in video form. But there are so many more of these uplifting recordings on their YouTube channel. Watch when you have time, or at least listen while you do the dishes. Not only is it refreshing to hear their harmonies, but what a joy to see how much they enjoy each other’s company and the making of music together. It’s good for the soul.

That is all. Oh, and happy Saturday!

Nice, David! Hope all is well in your world … though the current political climate is more than a distraction.
