Updates from the Writer’s Desk

AND A RECORDING

Coming your way very soon, my son Micah and I will be announcing the publication of our joint poetry chapbook from the Editor’s Series at Seven Kitchens Press. Mapping the Valley, Hospital Poems by Micah James and David J. Bauman will be available for you to order before winter’s end. So, watch this space. I’m also thinking of giving you a sneak peek at the gorgeous cover art by Michael B. McFarland soon.

This is the main reason I’ve updated the Publications page here on the blog, but there are also a few other bits of news that I wanted to share with you. Three of my poems were recently published in the long-awaited spring-fall issue of Watershed Review, the online journal from California State University, Chico. It’s not news by now to say how hard a year it’s been for small presses and independent bookstores, so it’s an honor and a joy to be able to share some good news.

Another peak moment was Micah getting his first poetry prize nomination! Sage Cigarettes has nominated his poem “Haunted Hospital” to Sundress Publications’ Best of the Net Anthology. Also, “Home,” one two of my poems published this year by the Indiana Writer’s Center journal, Flying Island, has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. All in all, not bad for a pandemic year.

With the hope of more good news ahead, here is a recording of “Home,” part of a larger project coming together for a future first full-length book of poems. You can read along at Flying Island by clicking here. Thanks for supporting small presses!

    1. Thanks! I am so glad you like the linking too. I try not to go overboard, but I look at it like citing my sources. 🙂

    1. He’s a damn fine poet in his own right, Micah is. I’m very proud of him.
