As we continue through April and national poetry month, I can happily report that I got the chance to do a reading and impromptu craft talk at my new library this weekend. We were holding an author’s fair (planned out before my arrival on the job last month) and a reading slot opened up. I even sold a copy of Mapping the Valley, the collaborative project with my son Micah, which you can learn more about here and get a copy of by clicking here.
Micah and I have been working on a follow up project that looks like it will be a full-length manuscript, and we’ve been in the process of getting some of the poems published in lit mags and journals this year, including some of the recent publications I’ve listed elsewhere on this site. The latest such literary success can be found in the spring edition of Whale Road Review. Be sure to check out the whole beautiful issue!
The poem is one of those rare true stories in which very little was altered for the page. It’s called “In Highland Cemetery,” and I’ll will be adding an audio reading of it soon. Come to think of it, it might be a good candidate for a return to my YouTube channel, as the place is simply gorgeous to see.
Congratulations!
