Well, WordPress has dropped in my inbox my 2012 year in review, and I must say it’s rather interesting, especially regarding the things people were searching for this year. If you want to see that Kitty Baby Sister thing, feel free to look that up for yourself, but be warned, what they are looking for is not here on this blog, and it’s not safe for work, school, church or mankind in general. I did however post a wonderful thing about the Mean Kitty video from smpfilms, and how my kitty from almost five years ago seemed to be his baby sister because she looked like Sparta the Mean Kitty, and well, she was mean. Somehow people looking for bad things find that post. Hopefully true kitty love will heal them of their. . . never mind. Yeah. . . Bad people, you are very, very bad.

Luckily searchers were looking for some of my own work, including Dad Poems as well as recordings of the poems of others, like the post about vulture poems. How eclectic! One of my favorite discussions, a topic I’ve been wanting to get back to, or at least give the other side of, is the topic of why so many of us, even poets, “hate” poetry also made it into the top five.

My biggest month was April, when I did my video-a-day project. And while I’ve never hit numbers quite that high since, it started a trend that literally tripled the number of regular hits I got in all the months before that. Back then this spot had only 6 or 8 followers, and thank you, it now has well over four hundred. A humble number perhaps, but not bad for a weird gay dad poet who watches birds right?

I’m glad that Mr. Eric Darby gets a lot of hits for Scratch and Dent Dreams. I have been thinking of doing another post on that, and maybe trying a more subdued reading. I think the poem would work that way just as well as it works in his spoken-word slam style. Does anyone know if he is still performing? My other favorite slam poet Andrea Gibson has brought quite a few searchers to this blog too, along with her connection to one of my favorite music groups, Devotcha and their song, “How it Ends.”
